Masscot has been
providing information based services for business since 1988.
Masscot envisioned a CompuServe-like service that would help
businesses communicate with each other and their customers in a local area by
Computer. In 1988, we launched Masscot on Cape Cod Massachusetts.
We soon learned that the world was not quite as ready to be on-line
as we were, so we diversified into related fields such as selling computer
systems and helping local businesses manage their data. We introduced many
retail outlets and offices to their first computer systems and soon many of
them were actually getting on-line and started using email to send and receive
messages and files. In 1994 the Internet started to take off and people were
going on-line in record numbers.
We built our first website for a labor
union and soon were building sites for our established customers. We started
reselling web hosting services for a local ISP. By 1996 we were selling our own
web space on our own servers. In 1999 we added nation-wide local dialup access
to our offerings and although we now have customers around the world and offer
dial-up services throughout North America, we still offer the same personalized
service we have become known for.
Many of our first year customers are still with us after 13 years and
over half of our new customers are referrals by happy existing customers. Why
